General Apostle/Prophet J.T. Durojaiye

General Apostle/Prophet Joseph Tioluwani Oye Omo Durojaiye (1905–2004) was the visionary founder of The Blood of Jesus Apostolic Church International (BJACI). On January 25, 1960, inspired by the Holy Spirit, he established BJACI at Oke-Anu, Akintola Road, Ekotedo, Ibadan, birthing a global ministry dedicated to salvation, healing, and divine restoration.

Known as the “Catapillar Prayer Warrior” and Grand Patron of the Bible Society of Nigeria, Oyo Area 1, he rose from humble beginnings as a firewood seller and baker to become a powerful vessel for God, transforming lives through fervent prayer and apostolic power.

Life and Legacy

Born in 1905 in Awe, Nigeria, General Apostle/Prophet J.T. Durojaiye’s life was a testament to God’s transformative power. Starting as a firewood seller, farmer, house help, shoemaker, and baker (nicknamed “Double Engine,” army number 721867), he left Awe in 1933 seeking purpose. His journey took a divine turn when the Holy Spirit filled him, as Proverbs 20:5 states, “A person’s thoughts are like water in a deep well, but someone with insight can draw them out.” His God-given insight birthed The Blood of Jesus Apostolic Church International (BJACI) on January 25, 1960, at Oke-Anu, Akintola Road, Ekotedo, Ibadan.

The founding day was marked by divine favor—no rain, no scorching sun, but a serene atmosphere with a rainbow, symbolizing God’s covenant. He spent seven years, seven months, and seven days at Oke-Anu, consolidating his divine unction. Starting as an elder at Olugbode Odo-Ona Church, Ibadan, he served at C.A.C. Oniyanrin, founded C.A.C. Agbokojo, and established numerous BJACI assemblies, including Oke-Itunu (Mokola, Ibadan), Oke-Oluwa (Ilora), Strong Tower Cathedral (Moniya, Ibadan), Oke-Igbala Olorun (Ipaja, Lagos), and many more worldwide.

A fervent prayer warrior, he introduced transformative programmes like Quarterly Prayer Meetings, the Week of Mercy and Showers of Blessings, and Three Weeks Deliverance Prayer Meetings, leading to countless testimonies of salvation and miracles. Ordained a pastor in 1962 in Owo, he completed Bible readings in 30 days and composed spiritual choruses that inspired worship. His prayerful leadership secured acres of land at Olopemeji, Asejire, Ibadan, for missionary and educational expansion, including the Temidara L’Oluwawi Nursery and Primary School (dedicated March 15, 2003) and Faith Maternity Home.

On October 2, 2004, at the Apostolic Council meeting, he entrusted BJACI’s future to its leaders, declaring, “The church must not break; it is God’s egg, not to be shattered. I saw a vision in 1944 at Odo-Ona, Ibadan, where I was filled with the Holy Spirit and saw tongues of fire. This is the foundation of BJACI, built on the Holy Spirit’s power.” His apostolic calling—marked by signs, wonders, and godly living—echoed Zechariah 3:7, as he administered God’s house with divine authority. Ordained Grand Patron of the Bible Society of Nigeria, Oyo Area 1, on October 20, 1999, his legacy of prayer, faith, and vision continues to inspire.

Lessons from His Life

  1. Dream Dreams: His father had a dream that ha saw a whiter white object running down from the sky. And so everybody should check himself/herself of his/her small gods (ki onikaluku toju orasa re). That was the vision, when the General Apostle was born; he cleared his household of all dross’s and became a missionary. Dreams are prophesies of the future. He had faith in the dream. You are judged and measured by what you can cause to happen. (Hebrews 11:40).
  2. Be Open-Handed: Despite poverty, he gave generously to his father-in-law, earning prayers that amplified his global legacy, as his name “rang bells” before his passing in 2004.
  3. Have a Message: His message was clear—Jesus Christ is life. He lived, prayed, and built BJACI on this truth, trusting God to provide a “great house” at Oke-Anu.
  4. Create Church Products: Through effort, he established schools and maternity homes, bearing fruit for God’s kingdom, as seen in the Temidara L’Oluwawi School and Faith Maternity Home.
  5. Honor Your Parents: His care for his mother brought blessings of long life, as he faithfully supported her after revivals, embodying God’s promise.
